Most of the fishing at Inukshuk Lodge is done from boats. We recommend that beginners choose spinning tackle since fly fishing can require special skills better suited to experienced anglers.
The problem is that the wind can sometimes be strong enough to make fly casting difficult. Nevertheless, when the weather is calm, fly casting is easy enough for all.
When fishing on Ungava Bay, your guide uses an ancient Inuit technique for finding the schools of char. He studies the behaviour of Arctic terns and then keys in on their feeding activities.
Once your guide locates a number of terns diving for sand lance, he quickly heads for the spot. The small, slender fish are an important food item in the diets of both Arctic terns and char.
The trick is to follow the food source of the char and this is made possible by understanding Nature's clues.
Our experienced guides will accompany you throughout your fishing trip. They are extremely familiar with the region and know how to maximize your chances of catching your quota of five silvery Arctic char.
At noon, your guides become chefs who expertly prepare a mouth-watering shore lunch of char caught fresh from the cold water that morning.
These shore lunches generally take place either along the shore or on offshore islands. To make the meal complete, you'll also have a choice of cheeses and desserts.
